Diploma of Building and Construction

Course overview

Training and assessment for skill recognition in building and construction should take place in a live or closely simulated workplace setting. To address the needs of core unit CPCCBC4008 and supervise Communication and Administration Processes for Building and Construction Projects, students need access to an actual building and construction workplace. Also, for CPCCBC4018, Apply Site Surveys and Set-Out Procedures to Building and Construction Projects, students need access to the right surveying equipment, such as a theodolite and a laser or optical level, so they can achieve the precise Assessment Requirements for these units in a work-like situation.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

At the time of enrolment of all learning programs, CCM’s code of practice says that all candidates for assessment will be provided RPL. This is reaffirmed in the student handbook and is confirmed in writing. RPL is a process of assessment that evaluates a person’s informal and non-formal learning to establish to what degree the person has met the learning outcomes, competency outcomes, or standards for entry to, and/or partial or full completion of, a qualification. “An individual’s pertinent prior learning—formal, informal, and non-formal—is evaluated as part of the recognition of prior learning process to determine the credit implications of a particular credit application.”

Credit Transfer (CT)

If a certificate or statement of results is issued and verified, the credit transfer process will be triggered by CCM in respect of the units according to the training plan. Credit transfer is a process that gives students agreed and consistent credit outcomes for parts of a qualification upon identified equivalence in content and learning outcomes between matched qualifications.
